GMB Scotland Social Care
Thank you for the hard work and dedication you have shown to supporting members during this pandemic. Together GMB Scotland is making a difference, last week we got the Scottish Government & Health Protection Scotland to update their PPE guidance for social care so that carers should receive masks.
This week we need your help with the following:
- Get members to register for the Big Meeting (webinar) on Thursday
- Get all workers to fill out the open letter to Nicola Sturgeon
- Encourage all workers to be GMB members
Big Meeting for Social Care
Last week we ran a trial webinar (which we are calling a Big Meeting) for social care workers in East Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, & West Dunbartonshire. You can watch it here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/7424420786715473934
This Thursday, April 9th, at 2:15 we will be running a Big Meeting for Social Care. We want to engage with as many of our members as possible on this, and we need your help to do that.
Many of you joined us for the meeting for reps yesterday, so you will know how easy it is to join the call. Members can tune in and participate from their smartphone, laptops, and tablets/ipads.

As a rep, you are the expert in how to reach your members. Please ask members to forward this link on to other colleagues by using social media, such as whatsapp, facebook etc.
Your Organiser should also be able to provide you with a list of members in your Council, and where appropriate you can also phone through the list in order to encourage them to join us on Thursday.
We also need your help to identify the most common questions members want answers to. Please email a list of the most common questions by 4pm on Wednesdayto: rona.hamilton@gmb.org.uk
GMB Letter to First Minister
GMB Scotland have an open letter to Nicola Sturgeon that we are asking members to sign, so far we have over 900 signatures. Please also encourage members in social care to add their name: http://bit.ly/GMBCareLetter
