We understand that Fife Council have invited a number of employees with outstanding issues around pay and grading to attend sessions where they will be asked to sign settlement agreements relating to the council’s flawed job evaluation process.
For the avoidance of doubt, Fife Council has not advised GMB Scotland about these signing sessions and neither have they contacted our lawyers Thompsons.
It is likely the council want settlement agreements signed because they are worried about the third wave Equal Pay claims being pursued by GMB Scotland via our Fife Pay Justice campaign.
If any member of GMB Scotland who has a claim against the council signs a settlement agreement with Fife Council at this stage, they will not be able to pursue a 3rd wave Equal Pay claim.
It is likely Fife Council is offering settlement agreements that are worth significantly less than individuals may be entitled to under the 3rd wave claims.
We are strongly advising members not to attend the settlement agreement signing sessions arranged by Fife Council and to stick with the 3rd wave Equal Pay Claims being pursued by GMB Scotland.
If you have any questions at all, or if don’t already have a claim then you can call us on 01382 225491or email fifepayjustce@gmb.org.uk
